FPV 'drone' Racing the start of a new sport
We fly mini "drones" at high speed round short tight courses and through the smallest of gaps for fun. We fly them "First Person View" or FPV through goggles. As if we are sitting inside the miniquad. It's like pod racing from Star Wars, in real life! We hope to share the story of how we grew a community and a e-commerce store over past few months. Plus all the exciting things we have been doing for the FPV Racing community.

Making the makers OR the tale of a serendipitous quest to build a quintessential makerspace
On a bitter cold winter afternoon I strolled through the streets of Maboneng and stumbled upon a most fantastical location: a place where engineering meets the arts, where design sits next to electronic sensors, where the promise of roasted coffee and freshly baked bread contest for air space. Below, a forlorn boxing gym holds the greatest secret. Empty space, gray walls and a colourful mural. The reincarnation of a dream to build a space where engineers flourish and that designers relish. Now the space is mine and the makerspace will be yours. Help me envision what this space can be!

How startups can work with government to make citizens lives better

This presentation follows the speaker’s journey, guided by Alan Knott-Craig, into the world of South Africa tech startup’s. It then looks at the shift in focus from pure moneymaking-startup ideas to initiatives that help governments improve the lives of its citizens.

He was employee #1 at Project Isizwe, the largest government-funded public WiFi network in Africa.

With Happimo, a non-profit organisation, the speaker is about to launch Namola – a smartphone solution aimed at helping the Tshwane Metro Police Department provide a better service to the citizens of Tshwane.

Happimo has also identified a number of key government issues that can be easily solved by tech startups. The plan is to launch a new initiative every month for the next year.

Instead of building the solution for each problem Happimo looks to connect the dots between government and tech Startups..

Leading with Courage
Braam believes that you first have to believe in yourself and be comfortable in your own skin to be able to stand out from the crowd and be open to criticism. Only once you trust yourself and have faith in your own integrity, others will too. True leaders stand up in the face of adversity and do the right thing. Respect is not given, but earned.
Leaders have a special ability to display a sincere passion that ignites those in their company to buy into the goal or vision and want to be part of the journey. They empower others to want to go places that they never previously imagined possible. A leader with purpose fuels others to action through change. They inspire others to want to reach their fullest potential, to become leaders themselves.

How not to build an internship program

As ClickMaven, we don’t do jobs. We do mastery and purpose.

We've created an internship program that equips digitally savvy graduates with the skills they need in order to make their mark in the industry.Using a highly structured 6-month internship we equip them with technical and business acumen skills.

We aim to inspire and assist other agencies to develop programs/opportunities where they can bridge the skills gap.

Life Stamina: Is it born or bred?
We often place limits on what we can do and what we have the potential of achieving. We often underestimate how far one can go and the ultimatum of terminating or continuing. In every aspect of life, there is something called Stamina, not just sport. The aim of this inspiring, enthused and motivated talk will be geared towards what and how you can see through your desired goals, accomplishments and targets.
