Maureen is a Nairobi-based designer, community builder and entrepreneur with demonstrated ability in the fields of innovation, design & technology across Africa. She applies human-centred design to building contextually relevant products as well as crafting opportunities for organisational growth and is keen on supporting entrepreneurs and companies that are shaping Africa’s future in technology & empower the youth. Maureen has been championing the growth of design talent and communities as a key to youth development, capacity building, and driving innovation in Africa. She is the founder of UxP, Nairobi’s premier annual user experience design and product conference and community. She is a strong advocate for designing contextual, relevant solutions to the continent’s most pressing challenges. Maureen’s work with Dalberg Design has allowed her to engage with talent across the region on critical issues like employment, education, financial inclusion and agriculture.

Previously, Maureen founded Spindle, a studio that brings together cross-functional teams to design and develop technology products. They are co-developing a platform for SMEs to gain access to capital.

Maureen also provided strategic design leadership as a Senior User Experience (UX) Researcher and Interaction Designer at the iHub UX Lab, and has a background as a coder, developing mobile applications. She is passionate about design, entrepreneurship, youth empowerment and technology.
