Johannesburg, South Africa
Samantha Wright spent 2 and a half years sharpening her teeth in the YFM Newsroom and learning the tricks of the journalism trade. At the age of 23 she moved into the corporate world where she took up a post at an engineering firm. While here she wrote scientific and engineering related pieces for a host of B2B publications including Engineering News and Mining Review Africa.

Her real love has always been technology and how it impacts South African women. Her opinions on the digital space have been published on BizCommunity and Memeburn and she has been asked to weigh in on digital and tech related issues for the likes of ITWeb, ClassicFM and SAFM.

She currently contributes to a host of publications in a freelance capacity including (but not limited to): The Nashua Corporate Blog, Intel iQ, Cheek 2 Chic and Under5foot (both female focused lifestyle publications) and South African Sporting Horse Magazine.

She has a weekly "tech spot" on Good Hope FM as well as Radio 2000.

At the beginning of 2014 Sam saw a niche in the market that wasn’t being adequately addressed by other publications. She started Tech Girl – a website aimed at South African women and focusing on technology, gadgets and how they influence the average girl. Even as a new portal, Tech Girl has seen a remarkable number of people take an active interest and engage with the website. Sam not only contributes the majority of the pieces to the site but is also its editor.

Sam's philosophy has always been to incorporate giggles and a little bit of glamour with her gadgets. She never takes herself too seriously.
